Not every life follows the same road.

In a quiet corner of the west of Ireland, where the Atlantic wind shapes both land, character and destiny. Joe is a man who lives life on his own terms. To some he is a curiosity, to others a symbol of a freedom long forgotten—but to those who truly know him, Joe is something far more complicated.

When Joe suddenly disappears, the mystery unsettles the small community that knows him best. The case falls to seasoned detective John Coffey, a man whose professional reputation masks a quiet grief of his own.

Drawn into the rhythms, secrets, and silences of Shanagarra, Coffey finds himself confronting more than the puzzle of a missing man. As he traces Joe’s footsteps through stories, memories, and the windswept landscape Joe called home, he begins to realise that some lives cannot be measured by ordinary standards—and some disappearances reveal more about the living than the lost.

Four Knots to the Wind is a haunting and deeply human story about individuality, belonging, and the quiet courage it takes to live differently.
